Glam

Glam

Next month will be the annual Palmer Lake Artists Group Spring Show. It will be held at the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts in Palmer Lake, Colorado. Many of you know this is one of my favorite local venues for art shows. The turn out is good and the opening reception has live music.

This is one of my entries in the show. Crinklized dichroic pieces that I've wire wrapped in Argentium Silver. As I looked at the matching earrings and pendant, all I could think of was glamourous....so I decided to name these Glam.

I have a couple of fused glass bowls that will be in the show too and I will post pictures of those later.

In the meantime, if you are looking for a nice diversion, the opening reception for this show will be Friday, June 11 from 5 - 8 PM at the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts in Palmer Lake, Colorado.

Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person

A Pleasant Surprise!

Puzzle

This morning I received a phone call from The Art Center of Estes Park. Apparently there had been a small glitch in their system and they wanted to let me know that another of my pieces had been accepted in their "Lines Into Shapes" show. My jewelry submission, Puzzle, pictured above was also accepted. You can imagine my delight!

You may remember Puzzle from a spring show that I did; it actually took first place in that show in the glass category. It has companion earrings that I will enter in their miniatures collection. The Art Center of Estes Park lets artists include miniature works, once one of their pieces has been accepted. Tonight I'm off to work on a small version of a bowl or plate to compliment my other piece, A Grove of Trees. Pictures to follow in another post.

Happy creating all!

Prism

From my Brilliance Collection, this is Prism. A really nice rainbow effect of bright blue, yellow, and salmon crinklized dichroic. I used 20 gauge square Argentium silver wire for the wrap and added a solitary Swarovski crystal to compliment the salmon color. I really favor the use of crinklized dichroic for my jewelry designs.

Flamboyant

Part of my new Brilliance Collection, this is one of my latest crinklized dichroic pendants, Flamboyant! For this piece I used 20 gauge square Argentium silver wire. And I also twisted some of the wire to add a more delicate touch to this piece. The glass is part of CBS Dichroic puzzle pattern and has more of a gold and salmon coloration.

Currently, I am revamping my Etsy store and will be adding this as one of my new pieces.

This is one of the pendants that I worked on last night with my new Lindstrom Rx pliers. I so enjoy tools and ones that are designed and work well are my favorites. I quickly took to these new pliers, so much so that all of my new wire wrapping tools will be Lindstroms. I purchased their ergonomic model (the Rx) and they have the greatest feel and touch of any pliers I've used since I've started wire wrapping. If you are looking for a great price on Lindstrom pliers, check out Urban Maille. They have a great website, beautiful chain maille, and wonderful customer service too!

Puzzle Pieces

More beautiful crinklized dichroic from Coatings by Sandburg (CBS). This pendant and earring set is my last entry in the Palmer Lake Art Group Fine Art Show that starts on June 2nd with its opening reception on Saturday, June 6th at the Tri-Lake Center for the Arts.

The glass pattern was called Puzzle, so I felt that was an appropriate title for this set.

I used square Argentium silver wire to wrap these, along with a few Swarovski crystals for the earrings.

On Thursday of this past week, I had a fun little trip up to D & L Art Glass and was able to hand pick some more of the CBS patterned dichroic. A new batch of fused cabs is cooling in the kiln as I write this. I can't wait to see how these new patterns turned out. I will be wire wrapping and posting new pictures soon.
