Glass Magic Exhibition
304 Highway 105
Palmer Lake, CO
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 9, 2010, 5:00 - 7:30 PM
My first Reflections of a Glass Artist post in 2010, the new year, the new decade! Hi everyone and Happy New Year. I look forward to this year and decade being filled with new events, discoveries, and of course, new learning experiences.
I'm happy to announce that the three pieces pictured above are part of the Glass Magic Exhibition that opened Tuesday, January 5, 2010 and will run through Saturday, January 23, 2010. The venue for this exhibition is the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts and I have had my work there for a number of shows over the past few years. I really like the venue and they have quite a loyal following of locals and those from the surrounding areas.
The opening reception will be this Saturday. The Krucoffs will be in attendance; Dan, Mary & yours truly. It should be a fun evening and if you are in the area, please stop by and say "Hi"! I would love to meet you.
One of the reasons I'm so excited about this first show is it is all glass. The Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts wants to increase public awareness and appreciation of all the beautiful aspects of glass art. While this isn't a juried show, I find it wonderful that there are so many local glass enthusiasts and this show provides an opportunity for glass artists at all levels to display their works. I'm looking forward to posting some pictures of the opening reception here with an update of how the evening's festivities went.
Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person....you know I am!

How wonderful and fun way to start off 2010! I believe it will be a banner year for you and that talented photog hubby of yours.
Hi Sheila! Thanks so much and I really like your vision for our year. May yours be an outstanding year too.
Congratulations, Kathleen, on getting these beauties into the show. Winter is still one of my favorites of your plates. Good luck! I look forward to seeing the photos of the reception.

Thanks Don! It will be interesting to see what the turn out will be at the reception. I'm hoping Dan will be taking pictures too. I will share them here and maybe even on Facebook.
Congratulations and good luck with the show. Yes, I agree with Don, 'Winter' is my favourite too and so fitting with the weather we are experiencing at the moment.
Looking forward to seeing your new creations (glass and jewellery) of 2010.
Kristin :)
Thanks Kristin.
It is very cold here too, -5 (Fahrenheit) this morning at our house. Right now it is too cold for me to be able to fire my kiln. At least I can assemble some things in preparation for firings.
Looking forward to seeing your new work this coming year too. :)
Oh, I wish I lived closer so I could attend the Magic Glass event! Looking forward to seeing photos. I'm sure it will be amazing!
Best of luck with the show Kathleen! "Winter" and its photo is really spectacular.
Thanks Janelle! Oh I wish we lived closer too. Then I could see your works and Karen's in person for a nice change! I will post pictures of the reception.
Hi Deborah.
Thanks! Winter is one of my favorites right now. I've heard some things have already sold, which is great before the reception. Hopefully more will sell tomorrow night! Maybe even one of mine.
Happy new year, and congrats on the show, Kathleen! These truly gorgeous pieces should be seen by everyone; your talent amazes me.
I've bee thinking about my word, and the one that comes to mind is CHANGE, which is kind of a theme on my blog (and life) right now. Is that too vague, do you think?
Hi Sharmon! Thanks, I really appreciate your thoughts on these pieces.
Yes! I like the word CHANGE. It is a driver. Sounds great. All of us need to compare notes at the end of this year and see what great things our touchstone words did for us.
Hi K, Happy to see you are in a show so early in this new year. Your glass pieces are beautiful! You have a bunch of new blogs in your side bar that I'm going to check out. Best wishes for 2010! !
